New Free Gym Class (Members Only)

Were adding a fifth free gym class on Saturday morning's at 10am, starting this week. Get fit, toned up and have fun every Saturday morning.

Our other free classes take place on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 6pm and Wednesday and Friday mornings at 10am.

Our new Swimfit class is starting today at 6pm. It's going to be on every Monday evening and is Free to all Peak Members and cost's just €5 for Off Peak Member's.

 

The class is going to focus on stroke improvement and Swimming Fitness.

Summer Intensive Swim Courses

 

Its that time of year again for Oakgrove's Swim School...intensive summer swimming courses to get you ready for your summer holidays!

 

Adults courses will be run on 4 consecutive nights from Monday to Thursday inclusive at Oakgrove, an intensive but fun run of swim sessions. Whether you are looking to take your first dip and build confidence or fine tune aspects of your technique, our experienced instructors are here to help.

 

Classes start on Monday 13th of June.

 

Adults courses cost €55 for non-members, €45 for our members.

 

Childrens 5-day courses will be held at the Lavanagh Centre on Monday-Friday inclusive on the 11th - 15th July. There will be classes at 10am and 10:40am. These courses are great to kickstart your childs swimming experience, or to hone their skills before summer holidays.

Tour of Ireland Challenge

 

So far the Tour of Ireland is a massive success and everyone is commenting how great a motivator it is to get in there and use the pool and gym.

 

If youve not signed up its never too late and the tour will not finish until August so come on down and join in!

The Tour of Ireland Challenge

We always seek to motivate all our members so with this in mind were starting our tour of Ireland challenge. Its going to run from the start of March till the end of August.

 

Using your speed on a threadmill as a benchmark you can use any of our cardio machines to try to get from town to town around Ireland. The tour is divided into stages and completing them gives you a star. The more stars you earn the more tickets you get for the final draw and so the more chances of winning! The time you spend on our bike's, crosstrainer's, stepper's, rowing machines or glidex will be converted to the distance you would have completed on a threadmill. There is also a conversion for swimming available.

New Teengym classes starting soon.Teen Gym is a 45 minute fitness class aimed specifically at 12-16 year olds, to promote confidence and the benefits of healthy living and exercise.
The format of the class changes every week to challenge the participants to gain the best results possible, achieve their goals, and keep them motivated by targeting and toning up all the major muscle groups of the body.

September Nutrition Challenge - Starting Monday 6th September

 

Keep a diet diary for one month. Give up one bad food that you tend to eat regularly. Get a handle on your health and nutrition and be in with a chance of winning money!

 

Help us to help you by signing up and taking part. At the end of this process, we will sit down with all participants and carry out an analysis of where it all went right and wrong! This challenge is not a competition, its really important to be honest with yourself. Nobody is expected to be perfect, hopefully we will all learn a little bit and set up a solid foundation for healthy nutrition (and thus better health) in the future.

 

So what are you waiting for? Talk to our gym staff (Barbara, Linda and Martin) about signing up! All it takes is €5, nominate one food you will stay away from and if you return a fully-filled in diary, we will enter you into the draw for the full pot o' gold.

Cork City Marathon 2010

 

Congratulations to all participants from Oakgrove Leisure Centre who took part in the Cork City Marathon 2010. "Ain't nothing to it but to do it" was the motto of the day for Mariusz Lukasiewicz, Gearoid Moloney, Mary O'Neill, Sandra Hegarty and Diarmuid Morley who took part in relays and the full run.

CrossFit Certified Trainer Diarmuid Morley is starting an exciting range of classes to get you fighting fit for the summer...and beyond! We really believe that these fun and social classes are your best bet for great health.

3. Intensity. Have you ever left the gym feeling like you've just gone through the motions? These sessions will get you exercising at a high intensity (safely and relative to your own needs of course). Leave the gym after this circuit class knowing you've given 100%!

4. Variety. Constant variety will benefit you in two ways....constantly shock your body for greater training benefits AND you never get bored!
